Reduce your risk
for COVID-19.
Get vaccinated
The most effective way to protect yourself against COVID-19 is to get vaccinated. All three vaccines on the market (Pfizer–BioNTech/Comirnaty, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson) are safe and effective—in fact, they’re more effective than the average flu vaccine. The vaccines have undergone rigorous clinical trial testing and evaluations.
Wear a mask
To help put an end to COVID-19, we need your help to stop the spread. Wear a mask—especially if you are not vaccinated—when you’re inside or in crowded areas. While masks provide some protection to you, they largely protect others around you by capturing droplets that are released as you talk, cough, and sneeze. Masks should be worn over your mouth and nose.
Keep your distance & avoid crowds
COVID-19 spreads primarily through the air. The closer you are to someone who is infected, the more likely it is that they could spread the infection to you. This is why it’s important to social distance (stay 6 feet away from others) and avoid crowds as much as possible.
Wash your hands
Our hands are notorious germ-spreaders. Practicing good hygiene habits, like washing your hands throughout the day, is a great way to protect yourself from not just COVID-19, but many other general illnesses and viruses as well. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. It’s best to wash your hands before eating, after touching high-touch public objects like doorknobs, after shaking hands with other people, and, of course, after using the restroom.
Know when to stay home
Help stop the spread of COVID-19 by knowing when to stay home. If you are sick or have any symptoms of COVID-19, stay home. If you have been in close contact with someone who recently tested positive for the virus, stay home—even if you don’t have any symptoms yet yourself. One reason why COVID-19 has been able to spread so easily is because it may take several days after initial infection for your body to exhibit any symptoms.
