Get tested or vaccinated for hepatitis

Viral hepatitis (HAV, HBV, and HCV) is inflammation of the liver, and HBV and HCV can lead to chronic infection and more serious liver diseases. Luckily, there are vaccinations for HAV and HBV. If you are high-risk for HCV, get tested; high-risk populations for HCV include Baby Boomers, veterans, and healthcare workers who are exposed to blood.

Alcohol and medication

Alcohol and medications can damage your liver if overused or misused. Limit your alcohol consumption, and be sure to follow the instructions on any medications you take.
